Blog Assignment#2

When I listen to The Star Spangled Banner I would prefer to listen to Gottschalk’s version, simply for the reason the South City Voices had to many people and pitches when singing it.  The Gottshalk’s version of the Star Spangled Banner was peaceful and stayed true to the song.

In the Stravinsky’s version of the Star Spangle Banner I could not hear any change in the melody of the song.

I think Hendrix’s version of the song was kinda offensive because he went away from the National Anthem.  I felt as if he took it as a joke and when playing the Star Spangled Banner in front of a crowd of that size, you should play it with respect. I also felt like he was just having fun and was trying to put his own touch to it, which is okay except when you playing the national anthem because it me something to the people in the crowd.  I also might just be feeling this way because I do not listen to music with a lot of guitar in it.

Blog Assignment # 1

I learned The Star Banner when I was five years old.  I first heard this song on Keeler Air Force Base, where my mom was stationed for five years.  It would play everyday when it was time to wake up and get ready for school.  It would also play every night when the work day was over.  The Star Spangled Banner is a sign of respect.  It is a song that shows our soldiers that risk their lives for us that they are loved and appreciated.
